London – Dublin – Copenhagen – Berlin – Stockholm – New York – Madrid. All over the world, on November 17th, people are preparing to take back their futures and stand up for the living planet. In solidarity with Extinction Rebellion in the UK, we are calling on the citizens of Ireland to become ‘conscientious protectors’ of people and planet; to stand up to climate inaction; and to stand together with a coalition of environmental groups, conservationists, activists, trade unionists and political parties at Dublin’s iconic Dead Zoo.
We are in the midst of an ecological crisis brought about by climate change, pollution and relentless habitat destruction. Humanity has wiped out 60% of animal populations since 1970. Our climate is becoming ever more unstable due to our continued dependence on fossil fuels, driving even more species closer to the brink and threatening the future of our species too. Our health, our livelihoods, our very future is at stake, and we cannot stand idly by as ecosystems collapse and our life-support is switched off. There is no planet B.
It’s time to act. In the face of report after report outlining the far-reaching ramifications of climate breakdown and the devastating levels of destruction being wrought on our planet, we need to rise for climate action. We must rebel against the on-going apathy of our government and fight for our planet’s future. Join us to highlight the extinction crisis and demand climate action before humans become the next endangered species. If you are fearful, if you are frustrated, seize this opportunity to get climate action on the political agenda. Do it for yourself, do it for your children, because time is running out. Our planet is dying, and so are we.
